Hi we are a small roaster starting up and are thinking of purchasing one of these Pinhalense single barrel sample roasters. We would appreciate your honest feedback on the quality of this machine, it is much better value for money than anything else on the market.
I am very pleased with the roaster I bought. Especially for how little they cost compared to a probat, etc… I have been able to get very good roasts with mine, though it can be a bit tricky, right out of the box, to reproduce the same profile without adding a manometer to the gas line, and a temp probe.. with means a couple hundred dollars on top of the roaster itself. But that it still under other sample roasters.
It’s pretty sensitive to ambiet air temp - cold air can stall it. Though I think that is the case with any sampe roaster with an open front end. You really aren’t dealing with a large enough mass to be unaffected by a draft of too cold air passing through the roasting drum… Whatever you do, try to place it in a place where its environment is going to change as little as possible.
